Boys, Boys, Boys!
Queer porn is a lot of things. It’s been described as feminist porn, dyke porn, or porn made by women for women. But what about the boys? While there are plenty of boys in queer porn as well, there’s not a lot of material for viewers who are all about the boys.
T-Wood Pictures (aka Trannywood Pictures) has been providing queer-ified gay porn DVDs for years. My very first queer porn purchase was a copy of Cubbyholes, which I bought off the shelf at The Kiss Store in Vancouver. It introduced what seemed at the time to be a foreign concept: a bathhouse full of transmen and cismen alike! How novel!

The bathhouse setting has stuck with T-Wood over the years, as the founders – including on-screen star Ian Sparks – also run the EROS spa in San Francisco. This location is far from exhausted; recent release Trannywood Gone Wild (click HERE for VOD download) is past the introduction to the bathhouse, and now has the freedom to get deeper, sexier, and sillier.
The opening scene in Trannywood Gone Wild introduces the vibe of the film by lubing up an inflatable pool and sliding the entire cast of slippery transmen into it for some giggly, clumsy wrestling. (We later revisit everyone in the pool, including Brett McCloskey, Cubb, Seth Trader, and River Tiger, for some sexier action.)

We then explore more of the club: Dale Ryder visits the glory holes in search of some mystery cocks, later revealed to be those of Dorian Darkalley and Rowan MacLachlan. Another room is occupied by daddy/boy combo Mason Dix and Bootsie Barker. The novelty of the men being transmen is long gone – this is now for viewers who love them some gay sex.

As enthusiastic as I am about manporn, sometimes you need some other genders thrown in to mix things up. While T-Wood Pictures is still a boys’ club, the same creators have now started Dolores Park Studios, an all-genders production company, as well! When asked about the differences between T-Wood and DP Studios, Ian Sparks said:
Trannywood Pictures (or T-Wood) is a safe sex/harm reduction based porn company that focuses on gay men, both cis gender and trans gender. The ratios vary from DVD to DVD but can be 80% trans guys to 50% trans guys.
Dolores Park Studios, is the queer all genders partner of T-Wood. Providing an additional space for transmen to work in safe sex porn, along with cis gender men and women and trans women. The emphasis on transmale sexuality sets us apart from the other queer porn companies.
Dolores Park Studios debuted their first DVD Brunch Bunch earlier this year. I was excited to see the all-star cast, featuring (by scene):
Syd Blakovich & Javier
James Darling, Peter Piper (aka Deluxx Dash), Dale Ryder & Bos
(James & Peter pictured above)
Joie & Dorian Darkalley
Drew Deveaux & Vid Tuesday
Dolores Park Studios takes Brunch Bunch out of the bathhouse and into the bedroom, where there is just as little plot as there always has been! Dorian Darkalley is hosting a sexy party, and it doesn’t take long for everyone to get down to business.
While each scene has its own charm, the first and final scenes are tied for my favourites. Putting Vid Tuesday and Drew Deveaux together was a major casting success, and Syd Blakovich’s unstoppable fuckpower is well-matched against Javier’s insatiable perv-energy. As always, Brunch Bunch maintains T-Wood/Dolores Park Studios’ commitment to safer sex, and the use of barriers is only interrupted once a conversation about STI testing has occurred. My only criticism is the choice of phrasing; Javier mentions that he thinks “clean tests” are hot, and Syd agrees. Being the sex nerd that I am, it irks me to hear the implication that people who test positive are “dirty,” so I would have preferred them to refer to “negative tests” instead. That being said, they were mid-fuck and it’s porn and I’m pretty impressed that a conversation like that was even included on-screen, staged or not.
I also want to give a shout-out to EROS, which was the first bathhouse I ever went to! I was nervous about going there as a transman, and thought that even if the company was trans-friendly, the clientele might not be. I was pleasantly surprised: the staff was blatantly queer, there were info pamphlets everywhere about sex with transmen, and a man I met in the sauna took me out to dinner after EROS closed. A+! I recommend EROS to anyone even remotely male-identified who finds themselves in San Francisco.
You’d think running a bathhouse and two porn companies simultaneously would result in only occasional DVD releases, but there is already another T-Wood production being released this week. After only glancing at the cast in the picture below, I have decided that this upcoming film may become my new favourite DVD of theirs.

I’m a big fan of their other releases, and it’ll be a challenge to officially swing my favour over to a whole new T-Wood film…but, well, Quinn Valentine. I’m sold.
PS: There is currently a folder of Trannywood Pictures & Dolores Park Studios promo stills on my desktop labelled “trannyDP.” As if this Macbook wasn’t questionable enough already.

Thank you so much! We have a secret project that will be announced soon, as well, as Rec Room Vol 2 is in post production right now : )
It was so much fun shooting with Drew, and I think it really came across on screen. She is pure manhandling energy!
